Welcome to Just This Moment

Welcome to Just This Moment!

If you have ever been a caregiver or are currently a caregiver, you will understand the importance of

staying in the moment to thrive in your role. I have been a family caregiver since my childhood and a

professional geriatrician and caregiver for over twenty years. The goal of this website is to provide

education and mindfulness training to caregivers - family, friends, and professionals.

On this website, you will find links to my favorite resources that provide invaluable information about

Alzheimer’s and related dementias and common geriatric co-morbidities and issues that arise for

persons living with dementia and their caregivers. In future blogs, I will also be posting articles which

summarize my take-home points for each topic.

Future Topics:

  • Recognizing 10 Signs of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias

  • Caring for yourself: Building resiliency with mindfulness

  • Talking to your doctor (How to get your doctor to listen to you!)

  • Taking with your loved one about cognitive and physical concerns

  • How to help loved ones that refuse help

  • Addressing driving concerns

  • Advance care planning

  • Building the care team for your loved one living with dementia

  • Meeting nutritional needs

  • Developing exercise and physical activity plan with your loved one.

  • Addressing concerns with personal hygiene or urinary incontinence

  • Addressing insomnia or reversal in day – night cycle

  • Understanding behavioral changes in loved one.
